Yesterday, I was around the Lake Worth Lagoon area near Snook Island I spotted a bird that I am not familiar with.So...Toe, if you are out there, it's your time to shine! I could tell by the way it moved (short flight, slowly moving in a shrub, low to the ground, and somewhat hiding). I had not idea what it was but I could almost tell right away that it was different. It looked a little like a female Red-winged Blackbird but I have never seen them by the ocean area (they tend to stay inland). I thought of a Waterthrush but again they are usually in hammock areas on the ground. I noticed that the feet was larger than what I had seen before. The bird looks like a juvenile to me. I have narrowed down to a Seaside Sparrow. I'd appreciate if anyone who are familiar with the species could tell me what subspecies this bird belongs (Cape Sable or another subspecies?) I have heard that 2 days ago someone spotted one around Merritt Island area. So, if you live south of me keep your eyes peeled as the bird was heading south along the intracoastal area. I don't know what the records say about this bird around here. How common is this bird in Palm Beach County? Is it considered rare in my area?
