Toe, the words "record" and "report" are simply terms used to define the nature of the evidence collected for any given bird sighting. As an example, when I found a Black-headed Grosbeak at Kendall Indian Hammocks Park a few years back and called you to tell you about my sighting, at that point, my sighting was a "report." When you went to the park and photographed the bird, then published the photo, it became a "record." Had the bird never been photographed (or, heaven forbid, "collected"), I still would have added it to my Florida list, but I would have continued to consider the sighting as a "report."
