Other than doves at a feeder, most of the birds I have seen cats catch are fledglings or tired migrants. Not to minimize this, this is still a significant problem, no question. Toe, I don't know where you got your hundred million anually number from, but it certainly would be easier to justify statistically than loss' numbers, which just don't stand up to even casual scrutiny. When we live in urban areas it is much easier to magnify percieved problems that aren't nearly as severe elsewhere. If you spent time only in south dade, you would be convinced america abandons and dumps dogs like any third world country, yet I have never seen anything like it anywhere else.
