my primary purpose of writing this isn't to justify keeping cats outside or to minimize what cats do, I just hate to see people promote cruelty to animals or emotional cruelty to other people. I know plenty of elderly folks who's biggest joy of their day is petting and feeding their cat. And i'm ok with that. And I do know, from decades of personal experience and observation, that cats and birds can coexist and thrive, even in a fairly small space, such as my farm.
