The difference between domesticated cats and Cooper's Hawks hunting birds is that cats will kill birds for sport. Most likely, the Cooper's needs a meal or has a family that does. The simple solution is for cat owners to keep them indoors. Cats are healthier indoors and safer. My neighbor has lost at least 3 cats due to disease or fighting with another cat ( or something else).
