i have done nothing to harm the cooper's hawks. but i have watched, over the last 6 or 8 months, them kill virtually every interesting creature and bird on my farm. i run 20 acres in the middle of town, pesticide free, i've planted more natives, removed more exotics, all out of my own pocket. the results have been worth it. sorry angel and mariel, water district policy didn't kill all that off, the cooper's did. i watched them. didn't guess, didn't imagine, watched, one by one. now all i have left are starlings, collared doves, and cooper's hawks. if i had some fool walking around with a shotgun, blasting anything that moved, he couldn't have done a better job of wiping out my little preserve. and you would have thought i was a crumb for not putting a stop to it. cooper's aren't that special, and a lot of things i enjoyed watching and cared about are gone. instead of some reactionary, oh my god blather, man up and tell me why my little piece of the world wouldn't be better off minus two hawks. i yield the floor, kurt d.
