Thank you all for taking care of our flora and native birds. I am, for my part, feeding every dove and sparrow in town at the tune of several pounds of seeds a week.
I've had the good fortune of having, in addition to my perennial guests, mockingbirds, woodpeckers, painted bunting, shrikes, American kestrels, common yellow throats, yellow chevron parakeets, monk parakeets, common hill myna (once) and white crowned pigeons visit my humble tinny little yard in addition to tricolored blackbirds (males and females), cardinals, blue jays and, much to the shrike s delight, a mouse or two. Still waiting for the hummers to find my feeder, but I have a lot of patience. Had a hawk visit once but I don t think it caught anything as I have not seen it again.
Hmm now that I see my list; my yard might be tiny but I must be a decent host to have this many birds and rodents - at one time or another!
