2010's record cold is an average for all the temps throughout the month. The temp didn't drop down to record levels on any single day in Dec 2010. The coldest day in Dec in Miami is a tie between 12/25/89 and 12/12/34 at 30 degrees. It's the dips to near freezing temps that have been somewhat less numerous as of late. Check out the high and low temps for Jan 1977 and see if we've had anything close to that since. I'm not the only one that has noticed. I was talking to some charter captains recently who said the sailfish have been arriving late in recent years because there isn't enough cold to push them south.
