Don't forget the gillnetters really wiped out all the migratory fish in the mid to late 80's. Sharks are back bigtime. There have been steadily rebounding numbers of bluefish and mackerel in the last few years, and big mullet schools off the beach the last couple of years. The net ban is twenty years old now, it was the game changer. Some fool judge briefly overturned it last year. It is all interrelated.
