Fireflies in South Florida: myth or reality?

Do we have fireflies (aka lightning bugs) in SoFla? Some people say yes, others say we used to but not anymore, and other sources say no never it can't happen, such as this article: http://www.hypesouthflorida.com/weekend-getaways/2014/04/09/discover-floridas-little-known-firefly-season/

A young man recently told me that he's seen fireflies in the mangroves at Deering Hammock. He claims they're not the green-glowing kind but the far less common orange/red bioluminescence.
