Hey all,

Quick post to alert South FL birders that birds finally grew restless and breached the levees north of the state. Migrant traps here in South FL should see some new birds around today. Matheson will be the only place with no bird because Toe will be there, if he heads for Barnes steer clear and head for Matheson. :)
No really birds were on the move, radar recorded birds flying high over the Miami radar site at speeds in excess if 45kts, these were likely shorebirds and early ducks such as BW Teal. Not a whole lot of precipitation over the area, but as diurnal heating clashes with the seabrezze we may have some pop-up showers bring down birds engaged in diurnal migration. Big flights like the one that occurred overnight hardly go unnoticed on the ground. Diversity should pick up a bit and higher numbers of common Caribbean wintering migrants should be around. Let us know what you see at our Badbirdz radar site.
