I have added info and have conducted an investigative report on the status of the "Green Jay" in the last thread from Justin Miller 08-08-13. (Read that if you wish when your done reading this one).

I have not actually looked for the Yellow-fronted Canary that Holly reported from Linda Fell. I usually only have a chance to go there in the late afternoons and I understand morning is the best time to spot birds.
At any rate, this past week I finally got to see the two American Coot families that stayed over and bred at Green Cay. The juveniles are maybe a week or so apart from each other. Each family has 2 to 4 chicks. Hard to tell because some seem to be always hiding from me.
I have spotted one Purple Swamphen that flies for 3 seconds every 15 minutes to and fro one mini-island on a round trip basis. Both species are found beyond the Bald Cypress area. Right around the same area, there were about a dozen Chimney Swift zipping the skies. I managed to get one of my best shots of it (finally I was able to capture the eye. One tough bird to capture for sure! What else...One young Cooper's hawk was patrolling the area this past weekend. A family of Brown Thrashers was foraging near the bird feeder around the area where the short loop meets the long loop. The rest was the common Florida resident birds we know well in Florida.
I have added a few shots that I got this past Spring. Anhinga having an eye-to-eye staring contest with a fish and a pretty Yellow-throated Warbler.

I have not seen much as far as migration except the B&W and Prairie warblers that were outside on a tree in front of my house.
Until next time...
