This afternoon when I stopped at a small South Miami Park, 8 Blue/Yellow Macaws flew from some trees near me over a open waterway. They landed in some tall Australian Pines that lined either side of a canal next to the park. The lighting was perfect and they were dazzling with vibrant coloring. They all were in the trees not too far from each other and a pair fed and preened each other. At one point, I thought there were nine but the pictures I took showed only eight. The canal had a few ducks. One was of the same type as seen on the recent TAS Exotic birds trip in the pond at Baptist Hospital. It was all white with the round crest of feathers on top of the head. This duck had a yellow bill whereas the one at Baptist Hospital pond had a black bill. Does anyone know anything about these ducks? Are they hybrids? They sure are interesting.
