There are three of the ducks you described at Hoechoka Hammock and were originally said to be roen ducks (hybred of mallards) but others suggest Cayuga. Try the Cornell bird site for more details. Apparently people love to cross and recross mallards with black, mottled, muscovey etc and like the "new looks." The picture shows the cayuga in company with muscovey and an American wigeon. One thing about this hybred is that it takes no guff off the muscovey and drives them off with vigor. The wigeon is strongly drawn to company with the hybred and will always be "in trail" .
