The duck at Baptist was a crested form of Pekin Duck, which is a domesticated form of the Mallard.

Basically, any domestic duck which is not clearly a Muscovy is some form of Mallard. They are not hybrids with other duck species, just domestic forms of the Mallard.

There are many domestic breeds of Mallard, such as the black Cayuga Duck, and the Rouen, which looks much like a natural Mallard, but is larger. Needless to say, there are also many odd-looking mongrel domestic Mallards.

Hybrids with Muscovys are pretty rare. Such hybrids are always infertile. Mallards do hybridize with other wild ducks, particularly those in the Mallard group (e.g., Mottled, Mexican, and American Black Duck). Other than the Mottled hybrids, which are not easy to distinguish, we see very few wild x Mallard hybrids in Florida.
