The only exotic things I've seen at Homestead Air Reserve Base are spectacled caimans and Nile monitor lizards, so maybe they ate the purple swamphens. I'll try to go check again soon.

There's not much at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Krome Avenue. Dense stands of melaleuca are at the northeast and southwest corners, the Miccosukee Gaming Hall is at the northwest corner, and Dade Corners is at the southeast corner.
