Florida Lawn Chickens

Down here in SW Florida, we see so many White Ibis that have become virtually docile and acclimated to suburban/urban living that we call them "Florida Lawn Chickens". They feed on lawns and other grassy areas and one has to almost kick them out of the way from his or her tree lawn if walking on the sidewalk. I'm sure others around the state have witnessed the same phenomenon. In the last few years though, since I moved to Florida in 2000, I've also begun to see Glossy Ibis do the same thing. This is a rather new phenomenon (to me) and I do not recall ever seeing Glossies on lawns and golf courses feeding like their whitish kin. So my question is this: Do others think that Glossy Ibis have learned to mimic the feeding habits of White Ibis with regard to feeding on lawns and other "grassy" areas -- and I use the term somewhat tongue-in-cheek since this "vegetation" we call "grass" down here doesn't resemble Northern grass in the least?
