I remember a previous posting by Chat Lee of a Red-cockaded being seen at Marco Island, I also would have advised it was probably a Downy, BUT has this sighting been verified?? QUESTION-the recently published South Florida Birding Trail Guide stated that the Picayune Strand was the southern most habitat of the Red-cockaded Woodpecker. Is this true and if it is where can they be located at? I tracked down a colony once in Corbett a long time ago in a similar habitat.
