Such a beautiful morning on Thursday that I had to take 45 minutes to walk
Bill Sadowski. I didn't see or hear much. I don't know if all the birds were
still hunkered down because it was a cool morning, but all I saw was a few
Turkey Vultures, one Mourning Dove, heard one Cardinal, heard a Great Crested
Flycatcher and saw this Phoebe catch a dragonfly. There were also about 8-9 pea
fowl walking in the hammock.
On my way into the office I saw this and one other Spot-breasted Oriole on
Eureka and 87th Ave on the power lines. I guess this is the first adult I have
seen. The orange was glowing in the morning sun.
BTW: I have had several reliable, experienced birders tell me that the Hummer
I photographed the other day at Fairchild Gardens is a Black-chinned. So I am
posting the other photos of the same bird for some input. It is a shame that the
Ruby-throat and the Black-chinned have the same or very similar calls, it makes
for a difficult ID.
What do you think?
