For those who may have missed my earlier post, the pair of Wood Ducks has returned. These can be seen (most often in the evening Justin!) on the pond north of the park.
Fewer birds this week than last, but still lots of interesting things to report:
Warblers: Magnolia, BT Green, Swainson's and Ovenbird and were all on the 'wet side' inside the boardwalk in the Mexican Primrose and the small trees down to the marsh gazebo. On the 'dry side',RB Grosbeak, Ovenbird, lots of Prairies, Pines and Palms.
Raptors: In addition to the Peregrines (there are 2 around), the adult pair of RT Hawks were seen this morning which bodes well for another successful breeding season. Also, Merlin,Kestrel,RS Hawk (imm), Cooper's and Osprey.
Other: Painted Buntings, Great-crested Flycatcher, Phoebe, House Wren, White-eyed Vireo, Flicker, YB Sapsucker, Pileated Woodpecker.
Speaking of the evenings, large numbers of birds are flying in along the north and west side of the park (not as much inside)before sunset. Hundreds of BT Grackles, Crows, Monk Parakeets (some Nandays) and lots of other things.
