I profusely apologize for the quality of the sketch, but I saw a most unusual bird on Sunday that I had no idea what it was - I tried some searching of Florida birds and couldn't come up with any match, so maybe it was something not normally down here, or a captive release or escaped bird? I was at a restaurant eating outside in Delray Beach, off Swinton Ave just north of Atlantic. I had no camera with me, and the best I could do was grab a pen and try to make a quick drawing on a napkin, which was my only paper accessible. I had about 60 seconds with the bird moving around in a low tree before it took off - so my sketch is very poor - I could only try to note the colors and patterns I saw. I don't know if this is just too poorly drawn and the color references a little too obtuse to figure out, but it's worth a try, as I can't say I've ever seen any bird like it. The colors were very vivid and bright, like something you'd expect on a parakeet, except the bird's body was much more like a typical jay or mockingbird...and the head had strong black and blue colors compared to the greens and yellows of the body. If I can help with descriptions any further, let me know.
