Hi Justin,

There is exceedingly little chance that a Green jay would vagrate to southeastern Florida. Corvids are rather common in captivity (but Green Jay is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and therefore cannot be LEGALLY kept), so the illicit cagebird trade is the logical source.

If your bird was a Green Jay -- and I agree that your sketch is a good match -- then please keep looking for it with a camera nearby. There are three reports of Green Jay for Florida (Kendall, early 1970s) and Markham County Park (1980, 1985) but none of these was photographed.\
