Rock Jetty, Snail Kite (everybody's getting a new name now...geesh), Myself, and Inga searched from 5:30pm until dark with no sign of the Ani...BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
We did, however, get good looks at Wilson's Snipe (in the NE corner of the 332-B West holding pond (the Original 232 Wetland), 3 Northern Shovelers, 19 Pied-billed Grebes (eighteen after the Peregrine got one) and dozens of both lesser and greater yellowlegs, not to mention all the wadingbirds including a dozen Wood Storks. Unfortunately the whole area is good habitat for the Ani, so it might take a weekend day to get in a good search, and at this point I'm more inclined to search for a possible Sharp-tailed amongst the Pectorals...
good birding!
cheers
David
ps. Any interested herp people should check out 232 after dark- we've seen densities of snakes out there beyond anything I've ever seen.
