Don't be so happy with last night's rain. It came too early and no birds came in as a result. What it did do was dump a bunch of water at Cutler Wetlands and this morning Trey saw no birds in there. The place was looking exceptional for shorebirds, better than I've seen in a couple of years. Now, if the water doesn't go back down by next month, you can kiss the spring shorebird migration at this spot goodbye. It reminds me of the epic poem "Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge:
"Water, water everywhere, and all the boards did shrink,
Water, water everywhere, and it sucks!"
