Your comments hold little water and your approach to telling "us" to manage it ourselves it just plain witless. We all know that water is at a premium in Florida. What critters exactly are you talking about? If you have been in Dade County you have seen that the the watershed is controlled by the SFWMD through a menagerie of canals and water control structures, so yes they do manage natural events. We have coastal wetlands that support the right habitat for shorebirds but we can only access a small portion of these areas. Even when doing a Shorebird survey we can hardly get to all the places that we should check. So that makes Cutler Wetlands the premier spot in the county to observe and study migrating shorebirds.
Shorebirds are in steep decline and need every available stop over site to replenish their fat reserves that they loss during their long flight. So yes they are in need of help from such people as Toe who is very passionate about shorebirds and their existence on this earth. So I guess I could confidently say that you have never met Toe or even have exchanged words with him to know what he is really about. A sense of humor never hurt anyone! I will take your BLAH, BLAH, BLAH comment as a momentarily "brain fart".
And to set things straight Cutler Wetlands is precious to us birders "down here"! I guess that you must be "up there" somewhere, when you are down here you should go by and check out our precious Cutler Wetlands. Maybe then you will understand why this place is so precious to us "down here".

I guess I will leave you with this great quote.
All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.
