I would prefer to get a pair of Zeiss, Swarovski, or Leica's but they don't make many pairs for less than 1k. I have to stay under that price because they will be for my work and anything over 1k is considered a "capital item" and has much more red tape involved. They may also be used by anybody in the lab so I can't tailor them to me personally and will have to worry about eye relief. We focus our work on birds but never miss opportunities to enjoy other areas of the natural environment so close focus is nice. All in all we just want the best (optics, durability, warranty, comfort) we can get for less than $1,000. Thank you and everyone else who gave their suggestions.
