I just got the following e-mail from Lee and David Hasse who don't belong to any "organized birding groups" and who consider themselves "recreational birders" (their words). Not sure why they waited so long to report these birds. I hope that the photos they have prove them right!
To whom it may be of interest:
Last Sunday two Least Grebes were on the north pond at Yamato Scrub in Boca Raton. This newly opened area is west of I 95 and east of Congress Ave. at 701 Clint Moore Road in north Boca. While we are "recreational birders" we are quite confident of our ID. We do not belong to any organized birding group so we weren't sure who to report this to. The more we thought about it during the week we decided someone might be interested in knowing this, so we went back out this afternoon and found only one Least Grebe.
I am taking the liberty of sending you this information as I frequent the Tropical Audubon site daily and know you are serious birders. We would be more than happy to talk to anyone that this sighting would be of interest to or needs help finding the site. Our names and numbers are below. Dave took photos.
