Jeanette, Toe, and I met up at Chekika Hammock in quest of the White-tailed Kite around 10:00 am this morning, but it was not to be...the Kites were somewhere else! We did have a nice walk back past the gate and one could imagine what a nice place it was back in it's heyday. We observed plenty of Black & Turkey Vultures, along with Mockingbirds, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Great Egrets, Glossy Ibis, Black-whiskered Viero, Least Bittern, and a handsome colored Red-shouldered Hawk. Where where the Kites? Did we get there too late? What time of the day where they observed. Where they flying or perched? Since that would be a lifer for Jeanette an me, we'll try again after we can get details of what time and where in the park where they observed.
