Thursday afternoon after work Mariel and I were on the way to Crown in Pembroke Pines to pick up some good brews when I noticed a blackbird flying over the intersection as we waited for the green light. I kept my eyes on the bird till it got closer to the car, that is when I told Mariel to look a SB Ani! WOW first time we see one in Pembroke Pines. The Ani was seen at the intersection of Pines Blvd. and Hiatus Rd. There are overgrown fields all around that area, some of the same veg. as the 800 building. A couple of farms as well as some agro fields are nearby, maybe there are more Ani in these fields.
After we got home we celebrated the Ani with a Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre a wonderful deep mahogany ale with a sense of purpose.

Yesterday in search for a bird of the day we ventured over to Pembroke Pines again to look in some of the marshes around homes and found 4 Purple Swamphen, 6 Least Tern, Mottled Duck, C. Moorhen, RW Blackbird and lots of Grackles.

Nature is Awesome
