I saw my first two Ani in a hedge at a small shopping center in front of the Home Depot in Cutler Bay (then Cutler Ridge) in 1998. My only other Dade sightings were a flock of 7-8 birds in the Matheson/FTG area in the early 2000's, and a single bird near Sadowski in 2006. Most of the overgrown open fields in this area have been developed, which may explain why they have declined.
