Is the Limpkin always so noisy?

Just a backyard bird watcher but have a resident Limpkin ( I think)causing quite a bit of disturbance day and night with it's shrieking. Does this happen only during mating season or is the bird just plain lonely? I'm afraid somebody will try to shoot it to shut it up......God I hope not though!!

Have been enjoying a family of Egyptian geese and many other wonderful sightings.

Live on a canal in Margate in Broward County.
