Thank you for all your help. I will keep a close watch on the limpkin....nobody will harm it on my watch! It is not injured, so you are probably all right about the vocalizations. I enjoy every one of our canal dwellers. They are the reasons why we enjoy sitting in our backyard.
Thanks again for helping out a not so informed birdwatcher. Always keep binoculars and a bird book handy....last month we had a visiting wood stork.
