Good morning,
To my knowledge, there has never been any publication (at least in ornithologicl terms) on the Greater Flamingo flock at Hialah Race Track. I googled the name to get to its website and was surprised to learn that the race track closed down years ago; I wasn't aware of that.
Anyway, my question involves whether any of the flamigos at Hialeah are banded and/or pnioned, or whether any of them were ever banded and/or pinioned. (I realize that the only information I'll probably receive will be personal observations from those who have seen the famingos in the recent past, when I'm primarily interested in the 70-year history of the flamingo flock, but recent data are better than no data. Ideally, I'd like to contact whomever was the "curator" of the flock, presuming there was a curator or caretaker. With no official website for the race track, though, I don't expect any success in tracking down any former curator.
Additionally, the Snake Bight flamingo flock has surprisingly never been studied, not even by the late, great Bill Robertson But I recall corresponding with a researcher (was it you, Brennan?) within the past couple years about a paper in preparation. Such paper hasn't ben published in _Florida Field Naturalist_ or _North American Birds_ but perhaps it was published elsewhere. If so, I'd certainly be interested in obtaining a copy of the paper.
Thanks in advance for any information provided.
Best regards,
Bill Pranty
