Do note that a couple of the birds were mis-classified but considering this was the first time for them, that's okay.

As we move from observers to pro-amateurs and experts I believe we need to reflect upon the sheer innocent joy we had in just "seeing" the wonder of the numbers and colors of birds. All too soon we get caught up in life lists, first of the year etc. (which I do too) but how about keeping a little bit of our memory and recall to the way we were.

We all know that the little blue heron (pictured in the report) is virtually the resident agent at the bridge at Anhinga trail. Nevertheless I love to sit and watch it weave its magic (and head) and know exactly where to strike the water despite visual distortion to catch the fish. And the people come and comment, ask questions, check bird books and our common little every day run of the mill little blue becomes "the biology lecture" of the day.

Enough said. I have probably overstayed and overstated my welcome.
