You're welcome. I saw it for about 4-5 seconds, only from the back, and it was silent but for a "peek" call when it took off; so I had to go mainly on body size, as opposed to bill size, which for me is easiest. It flew once I got too close, about 40 feet. It was perched on the central trunk of the median oak nearest the Marsh Trail, where the main branches begin.

I've seen thousands of Hairies in Maine (with and without Downies around), both at the feeders (they love suet, but also eat hulled sunflower seeds) and everywhere else. So I'm confident about the ID. I mean, it could have been a gigantic Downy or a large, leucistic YB Sapsucker with a white back, but I don't think so.
