Maria and I met early today at Lucky Hammock to find it very active and noisy. A Bell's Vireo was scolding on the east side of the hammock and finally showed itself after being chased by one of three White-eyed Vireos there. The continuing male Wilson's Warbler put on a show from both sides of the road. Another interesting bird was a Marsh Wren that made a two-minute appearance on the south side of the hammock. It stayed in the open and we were able to distinguish it from Sedge Wrens that are wintering in the immediate area. A flock of 25 American Robins and 20 Cedar Waxwings (Annex) reminded us that we're still in winter mode. We expected to see/hear American Goldfinches but we didn't come across any. However, Trey has been seeing them recently.
Here's a link to two interesting scat deposits, the larger one probably Black Bear (Research Road) and the smaller one is perhaps Bobcat? It doesn't look like Bobcat or fox scat I've seen. Any scatologists out there?
