As many of you know I attempted a big year starting January 1, 2013 - unlike certain slackers :::cough:::Toe:::cough::: who just jump in half way through and actually hit 300!!!
The year started with a bang by picking up rarities like Tropical Kingbird, Vermilion Flycatcher and MacGillivray's Warbler. There were ups, downs, sleepless nights and LONGG mornings but it was all worth it to hit 300 birds by the end of the calendar year.
I had a great time exploring new spots in the county and revisiting known hotspots. I am particularly grateful for all the knowledge everyone has bestowed upon me and all the patience everyone showed me - especially when I kept RFI-ing for Wild Turkey. Which on a side note has to be the HARDEST bird to find in MDC. I had an easier time tracking down the 11 Caribbean Vagrants and 2 Monroe specialties!!
I am definitely going to miss everyone since starting tomorrow I begin the trek to start a new chapter in my life in Cary, North Carolina(of course after stopping in the northeast for Snowy Owl, Snow Bunting and Purple Sandpiper which would all be lifers) but what better way to go out, right?
