A number of people showed up to look for the White-rumped Sandpipers that Larry had reported yesterday. We estimated there were 50-100 present (biggest single flock was about 35).
But the star of the show (not seen by those who left early) was a gorgeous Buff-breasted Sandpiper (#25 for the area).
The Buff-breasted was in the field S of SW 328th St. and E of SW 132nd Ave. (which is an unmarked two-track road 1/2 mile E of 137th). We were on 132nd when we viewed the bird (spotted by Florian in the air, but not ID'd until it landed).
A little later, on Research Rd. in the Everglades restoration area, I found 34 (!) Swallow-tailed Kites.
