Went to B.B. Inlet and had the following this late afternoon:
6 Black Skimmers
2 Ring-billed Gulls
4 Sandwich Terns
A few dozen Royal Terns
1 Willet
6 Sanderlings
3 Pomarine Jaegers
1 Parasitic Jaeger (my guess) needs help with ID (mostly chocolate brown) in a group with gulls and terns.
3 quite extensive groups of BLACK SCOTERS - mostly females & Immatures but I was able to capture at least 3 adult males - really pretty!
A few Northern Gannetts ( not nearly as many reported yesterday this afternoon)
6 GREATER SCAUPS ( flying near the front of a HUGE flock of Black Scoters. They looked small because I was not focusing on them thinking it was some other shorebird. Glad I took a few shots to confirm and what a surprise. Looks like 1-2 males and 4 females.
Had a cool shot of some Royal Terns that turned out a bit like Chinese watercolor painting (my bias). The tails were like a menorah too! How multicultural!
That's all for today folks,
Marcello
