I left early enough to get to Anhinga Trail before sunrise. I wanted to take
some photos with my wide angle lens. I had taken several pictures when I heard
and then saw a White-eyed Vireo. I tried to switch lenses but was too late.

Any way, I didn t see much else there. Green Heron, Gators (I almost stepped on
one), the Vireo and a few Crows. I did see a few small birds which may have been
warblers or vireos flying overhead but didn t land anywhere near me.

I made the best of my time there and got some good photos of the plant life.

I then went up Research Rd. Across from the Boy Scout camp I saw one quail, but
no photo.

I then proceeded to the first set of buildings on the right and found two more
quail and got some good photos. Saw nothing else but mocking birds and a few
swallows.

Driving further on Research Rd. I saw a few Meadow Larks and 3-4 dozen swallows.
Some decided to pose for me on some reeds. I saw nothing else of interest on
Research Rd.

I headed to the Long Pine Key Campground. Nothing interesting there just more
Crows, Mockers, Red Bellied Woodpeckers and I heard another White-eyed Vireo.

Time to leave the park.

Just as I was leaving there was a deer waiting for me to take pictures.

Stopped at Lucky Hammock and saw 5 Lesser Yellow-Legs and a Solitary Sandpiper.
No migrants in the hammock, just Cardinals and Mockers.

I also spotted this Raptor. Can you help me with the ID on this one. Cooper
Hawk??

It was about 16-18" long, larger than a Merlin

A little further down the road from the hammock there were two Sand-hill Cranes
making noise and dancing around.

Headed to 217th and headed down the dirt road and saw only a few killdeer and
nothing else. There wasn t much ponding anywhere.

I headed home around 11am.

I had an enjoy able morning, but the birding could have been better.
