I'm sure Bill has some excellent books to recommend. Two great references (resaonably priced) that can be carried in the car and/or field are:
1) A Photographic Guide to North American Raptors by Brian Wheeler and William Clark. This is a quality general purpose book. Be sure to buy the 2003 Princeton University Press edition.
2) Shorebirds of North America (The Photographic Guide) by Dennis Paulson. Dennis's newest book (2005) is also Princeton Press. It's a great field reference and is more compact than his original book.
With your Sibley's and these other 2 books, you should be all set for a while. Good luck!
