Following Toe's shorebird post the other day regarding the flooded area offOld Cutler Road where 224 St. curves to become 97th Ave., I stopped over yesterday afternoon for about an hour, before some T-storms moved in.
There were lots of shorebirds, mostly Least Sandpipers, Semipalmated Plover, Black-necked Stilts and Killdeer, but also including Pectoral, Semipalmated, and Western Sandpipers, and Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs. There were also a ton of Laughing Gulls, and, to some surprise, a White Pelican. No signs of any dowitchers or terns.
As shorebird migration increases, this could be a really good area.
