John - Honestly, bad wording. I assumed that they were paludicola, based solely on the fact that they are in Ft. Lauderdale and it is early February. A better statement would have been, "what I assumed were paludicola." I didn't even try to seperate them by visualization. But you have me curious, what does Pyle say about birds in the hand? Are these two truly inseperable in the field? It is interesting, simply because one might expect a small number of discolor to possibly winter in S. Florida. But how would we know?
