I arrived at A D Barnes at 7:30am and wanted to look for the Cooper's hawk and saw nothing in the pine area in the NE corner of the park.
I then went into the hammock by the water fall and saw the usual B&W warblers, Prairie warblers, Worm Eating warblers and Red Starts. When I reached the wooden walkway I ran into a couple of other birders and saw several Ovenbirds and Blue headed Vireos. We heard a Tufted Titmouse and a Spot breasted Oriole. One of the other birders has been birding for 50 years, Dave from Naples. He had a print out from this bird board and was looking for the Swainson's warbler and the flycatchers seen over the weekend.
The other birder had to go to work, but Dave and I continued the search. It wasn't long before we spotted the flycatchers. Both were just south and west of the water fountain along the trail. I'm glad I was with Dave because he was able to help me with the ID of the La Sagra's Flycatcher and the Acadian Flycatcher.
I got a photo of the Acadian, but not the La Sagra's.
After that things slowed down for a while so I suggested going over to the Homeless Hammock. We saw the Yellow billed Cuckoo and more B&W and Prairies then I had to go to work. I hope Dave got to see the Swainson's warbler.
A good morning for me;
Black and White Warbler
Common Yellow Throat
Prairie Warble
Black throated Blue Warbler
Worm eating warbler
Ovenbird
Blue Headed Vireo
La Sagra's Flycatcher
Acadian Flycatcher
Yellow Billed Cuckoo
