This morning at A D Barnes I saw a hawk that I have a question about ID. This is the second time that I have seen this Hawk in the last week.
It has a large single Black band on the tail with a single white band on the tail just above. There was a very distinct rusty color on the back and shoulders of the bird.
I have narrowed it down to:
Broadwinged Hawk or Harris's Hawk
I have looked in Sibley Guide and Photos online and certainly believe it is a Harris's Hawk, but according to the guides I have Harris's are not found here.
Help...
I only saw the bird in flight, but at close range in the pine area in the north west corner of the park.
