Yes, unfortuantely, with so many pet trade Cuban Grassquits around, "we" have to assume this is an escapee. FOS won't accept the record as a naturally occurring vagrant, and without a valid state record, ABA won't add it to its list. And this is unfortunate because, should a natural vagrant show up, we will never know! I think, also, that the status of both other grassquits (Black-faced and Yellow-faced) is coming into question also, though someone closer to the FOS records committee would be a better source of info than me.
