Bird ID at Wakodahatchee

On 12/24 there was a bird that was brownish/grey with white stripes & spots. It was shaped like a night heron and it had an almost totally black bill. It looked most like an immature Black Crowned Night Heron but it wasn't nearly as brown as most of the pictures I've seen of the immature. Any ideas of what it actually is? Thanks.
