Alex, can you or anyone else who has seen the Burrowing Owls at Barry U. be a little more specific about the location of their nests. I contacted several people at FWC immediately after I read the posting, unfortunately it would've helped if Alex had called them yesterday with the specifics. The Burrowing Owl is listed as a species of special concern by the FWC and special permits are needed to develop in the vicinity of their nests, providing they're not disturbed. FWC has no record of Burrowing Owls nesting in Barry University grounds. I talked to a friend who attends Barry and he told me a lot of construction has already taken place, which makes me wonder how extensive the damage, if any, is to the owl nests. If anyone can contribute more information on the matter please call 1-888-404-3922, this is a 24 hr. FWC hotline.
Cheers,
RJ
