Simpson Park Brickell - ever been there?

I'm very curious about this place and have wanted to go in for a visit several times. For those of you who've been there, is it safe? The foliage is very dense and the hammock is dark. I'm a woman who often hikes alone.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I've seen the large homeless camp in the backwoods of Greynolds Park, and if Simpson Park has a similar situation, I'm a bit leery. Thanks!
