For many of us, finding unexpected or out-of-place birds is one of the most exciting aspects of birding. You may not have any interest in contributing your sightings to the ornithological record, but for those of us who do, we understand why documentation is essential. As the great philosopher Paul Simon once sang:

Proof is the bottom line for everyone
